The President of Serbia and the CEO of Zijin on the improvement of the business environment for further investment
Focus on the projects in the field of mining, environmental protection and sustainable development
We particularly focused on the economic importance of the projects Zijin is implementing in Serbia, the creation of new jobs and the contribution to the gross national product. We considered strategies for implementing environmentally friendly business operations in accordance with Serbian legislation, as well as future steps towards reducing the environmental footprint of mining activities, wrote Aleksandar Vučić on his Instagram profile.
BELGRADE. – The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, met (on November 28) with representatives of Zijin, led by the chairman of the board of directors of that company, Chen Jinghe. Enhanced cooperation and the improvement of the business environment to attract investment in the mining industry was discussed at the meeting. The meeting was attended by the First Vice-President of the Government of Serbia and the Minister of Finance Siniša Mali, the Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedović Handanović, the Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović, as well as the Chinese Ambassador to Belgrade Li Ming and the Mayor of Bor Aleksandar Milikić.
President Vučić wrote on the Instagram profile “Future of Serbia AV”:
“We discussed the progress in the implementation of the company’s existing investment in our country, as well as the possibilities for business expansion, with a special focus on projects in the field of mining, environmental protection and sustainable development.
We particularly focused on the economic importance of the projects that Zijin is implementing in Serbia, the creation of new jobs and the contribution to the gross national product. We considered strategies for implementing environmentally friendly business operations in accordance with Serbian legislation, as well as future steps towards reducing the environmental footprint of mining activities.
The meeting confirmed the continuation of strong cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Zijin company, with the aim of further developing the industry, creating new jobs and preserving natural resources.”
The chairman of Zijin Mining Group`s board of directors of, Chen Jinghe, arrived in Serbia for the fourth time (November 25) for another visit to the subsidiaries in Bor. On behalf of the host, the management of both Zijin’s companies, i.e. the first general managers of Serbia Zijin Copper and Serbia Zijin Mining – Qiu Guozhu and Su Yongding – wished him a warm welcome to the city of copper and to the “Jezero” hotel at Lake Bor. The day before, both of them welcomed Zijin`s Vice Presidents Wu Qianhui and Lin Hongfu, who toured the Majnapek Copper Mine, “Veliki Krivelj”, “Novo Cerovo” and metallurgical plants in Bor, as well as the Chukaru Peki mine.
As part of his working visit to Serbia, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zijin Mining Group, together with external advisor Guo Xianqian and colleagues from the corporate office for overseas operations in Belgrade, visited both Zijin’s subsidiaries and toured the mines and flotation plants, as well as the Bor smelter. This time, Chen Jinghe, accompanied by his host, the general manager of Serbia Zijin Copper, visited the oldest underground mine in Bor – “Jama“.
The four-day visit of the Chinese corporation highest officials to the subsidiaries in Bor ended with a joint meeting at the “Jezero” hotel at Lake Bor, where the management of both Zijin’s companies presented reports to the leader on work during the ten months of this year and plans for future development.
The chairman of Zijin`s board of directors last visisted Bor on May 01 of this year, and before that in February of last year and in December of 2019.
