Bor was once again the host of the National Chess Championship for people with disabilities
Serbia Zijin Copper helped the organization of the chess competition for the second time
The President of the Sports Association of Disabled People of Serbia emphasized the importance of such competitions for people with disabilities and gifted a plaque to the representatives of Serbia Zijin Copper, as a sign of gratitude for their support in the organization. – The help that we receive from the Chinese company in the promotion of our activities is of priceless importance and I hope that it will become traditional, said Dragan Janketić. – The chess games were played according to the Swiss system, and the citizens of Bor were represented by Sreten Stojanović and Zoran Mišić
BRESTOVAČKA BANJA. – In the organization of the Sports Association of the Disabled People of Serbia, and under the patronage of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs and the Company Serbia Zijin Copper, the National Chess Championship for people with disabilities was held in the club “Zijin” in Brestovačka Banja (on November 16). This year, the competition gathered the best-qualified chess players with disabilities from all over Serbia, so 24 competitors from Požega, Pančevo, Srbobran, Bela Crkva, Novi Sad, Kula, Stara Pazova, Kruševac, Jagodina, and Negotin came to Bor.
The President of the Sports Association of the Disabled People of Serbia, Dragan Janketić, emphasized the importance of such competitions for people with disabilities, and gifted a plaque to the representatives of Serbia Zijin Copper, as a sign of gratitude for their support in the organization.
–I want to thank the Ministry that supports our sports activities, the Company Serbia Zijin Copper, which is helping us organize this competition for the second year in a row, and the Club for Sports and Recreation of the Disabled People in Bor. The help we receive from the Chinese company in the promotion of our activities is of priceless importance and I hope that it will become traditional – said Janketić. He added that the association has ambitions for the competitions of people with disabilities to gain an international character and that he hopes to cooperate with Chinese athletes.
– The Company cooperates with the Sports Association of the Disabled People of Serbia for the second time and it is glad to be able to host the best chess players again. Chess is probably the oldest game that has survived to this day. They say that if it is played by masters, luck is practically excluded. I wish you all a good strategy, many wise moves, and may the best win – said the representative of the Office for ESG in Serbia Zijin Copper Feng Kui.
Chess games were played according to the Swiss system, which is characterized by the fact that in each round the players have as opponents those competitors who are closest to them in terms of points in the table. The club from Bor was represented by master candidate Sreten Stojanović and Zoran Mišić.
The first place in the individual competition was won by Dušan Mladenović from the Association for Sport and Recreation of the Disabled People in Novi Sad, the second was Dragan Kozomara from Kula, and the third place was Zlatko Parnicki from Bačka Palanka.
In the team competition, the first place went to the Society for Sport and Recreation of the Disabled People in Kula, second to the Association for Sport and Recreation of the Disabled People in Novi Sad, and the team from Bačka Palanka won the third place.
The Society for Sport and Recreation of the Disabled People in Jagodina, which this year celebrates 60 years of existence and work, awarded the Sports Association of the Disabled People of Serbia a certificate of appreciation for its exceptional contribution to the development of sports for people with disabilities.
