Chinese language course for high school students starts from October

Serbia Zijin Copper, High School “Bora Stanković” in Bor, and the Confucius Institute at the University of Niš have agreed to introduce a course for studying the Chinese language as part of the Company program “Zijin Talents”, and the plan and program of teaching Chinese as a third foreign language that will be elective, non-compulsory, as prescribed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development. – The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, which entails the establishment of cooperation between the three parties and the promotion of the study of the Chinese language in Bor, was attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Belgrade Li Ming

NIŠ. – Representatives of Serbia Zijin Copper, High School “Bora Stanković” in Bor, and the Confucius Institute at the University of Niš signed (on 20 September) a Memorandum of Understanding in the area of ​​conducting elective noncompulsory Chinese language classes in the shape of other forms of educational and developmental work.

The document was signed at the opening ceremony of the Confucius Institute at the Faculty of Philosophy, which was held in the building of the University of Niš as part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, which implies the establishment of cooperation between the three parties and the joint promotion of the study of the Chinese language in Bor, was also attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Belgrade, Li Ming.

The relationship between states is reflected in mutual friendship among peoples, and friendship among peoples in mutual understanding. Language is the best key to understanding a country. Learning other languages ​​and strengthening interpersonal and cultural exchange are important bridges for understanding among peoples. The Confucius Institute is a cooperation project of Chinese and foreign partner institutions that jointly reach agreements, build, and share results in the field of language education. Also, the Institute is an important platform for cultural exchange and practical cooperation between China and foreign countries – said Ambassador Li.

The three parties agreed to introduce a Chinese language course as part of the Company program “Zijin Talents”, and the plan and program of teaching Chinese as a third foreign language, which will be elective, non-compulsory, is prescribed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Niš will provide the High School in Bor with resources for teaching the Chinese language, and Serbia Zijin Copper will provide financial resources for the implementation of this program.

According to the words of the Director of the High School “Bora Stanković” in Bor, Miljana Golubović, elective, non-compulsory classes in Chinese will be organized twice a week, and high school students will be able to attend the first classes in October.

Niš is, after Belgrade and Novi Sad, the third city in Serbia where the Confucius Institute was opened. About a hundred candidates have already applied for the first free Chinese language course, which also starts in this city in October.

In addition to language learning, the opening of the Confucius Institute at the University of Niš will enable other forms of cooperation, especially with Jiangsu University.

We will work on increasing awareness and promotion of the Chinese language and Chinese culture, but we will also promote economic cooperation between our two countries. The great Chinese University of Jiangsu will provide scholarships to students from Serbia, not only from the Faculty of Philosophy, but also from other faculties of the University of Niš, who will receive professional training in various fields. The emphasis will be on electronics, medicine, legal and technological sciences – said the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy for International Cooperation and the Director of the Confucius Institute in Niš, Prof. Dr. Ivan Jovanović.

Thanks to the activities of the Confucius Institute in Niš, the realization of the project related to the establishment of the Department of Sinology, that is, the study of Chinese language and culture, will soon begin, as was heard at the ceremony in Niš.
