Investment in education infrastructure and school equipment continues

KRIVELJ. – The first school bell in the academic year 2024/2025 rang on September 2 for 107 pupils of “Đura Jakšić” Elementary School in Krivelj. They were visited (on September 10) by representatives of Serbia Zijin Copper and the Company’s ESG Office and presented with appropriate gifts for the beginning of the new school year, as well as sports equipment that they will use in physical education classes.

– Serbia Zijin Copper granted us tremendously valuable equipment, which we really needed. The Company understands the importance of education and has been supportive of us every time so far. I believe that it will continue to help us – said the principal of “Đura Jakšić” Elementary School in Krivelj, Branimir Dević.

The primary school teachers and middle school teachers also received gifts, as Teachers’ Day is celebrated in China on September 10.

– School plays an extremely important role in every person’s life, not only as an educational institution, but also as a place where proper values ​​are formed, together with the family. For this reason, Serbia Zijin Copper invests in education infrastructure and the procurement of equipment without which the modernization of education would not be possible. So far, numerous city and village schools in Bor and Majdanpek have been equipped and modernized with the Company’s funds, and the majority of funds – over 28 million dinars – has been allocated for renovation, adaptation, replacement of carpentry and IT equipment. In order to strengthen the role of education, as the foundation of social and economic development, the Company strives to be the most important partner to local governments and provide support for the introduction of new standards, the development of teaching and learning programs, and the financing of new school equipment, so this donation is just another one in a series of realized thus far – stated Deputy General Manager of Serbia Zijin Copper Zhang Yicheng and wished the pupils, primary school teachers and middle school teachers of the school in Krivelj a happy start of the school year.

President Xi Jinping also congratulated teachers and educational workers in China on the National Day. He said that “it is necessary to preserve the professional dignity and legitimate interests of teachers, reduce their burdens and obligations outside the teaching and school program and increase the rewards for excellent teachers. In this way, the teaching profession will become one of the professions that hold high social prestige and great respect”.
