The most significant ecological projects in Bor and Majdanpek were presented

Although work in the field of environmental protection is long-term and requires patience, the changes made in that area by SERBIA ZIJIN COPPER DOO are visible to the naked eye. In five and a half years, the Company recultivated about 320 hectares of devastated areas in Bor and Majdanpek and planted 700,000 seedlings, Zhong Junhua said at the opening of the exhibition

BOR. – As part of the month of safe production and environmental protection, the Ecology Department in SERBIA ZIJIN COPPER DOO organized (on June 14th) a photo exhibition entitled “Green Horizons: The Art of Sustainable Mining”. In this way, the Company presented to the public the most significant environmental projects that were implemented in Bor and Majdanpek in the previous five and a half years.

The outdoor installation, next to the National Library, which citizens of Bor will be able to view until August 6, consists of 24 photos showing 12 locations that have been renovated, recultivated, greened, and reforested. All locations were photographed also before the works were carried out, so one can see how slag disposal sites of the open pit overburden used to look like, and how the dams of the flotation tailings ponds in Bor and Majdanpek and other degraded areas looked like.

In five and a half years, the Company recultivated around 320 hectares of devastated areas in Bor and Majdanpek and planted 700 thousand seedlings. For example, over 350,000 square meters have been greened on the “Visoki planiri” – said the Deputy director for Environmental Protection Zhong Junhua at the opening of the exhibition.

In the first summer month of the year, SERBIA ZIJIN COPPER DOO, now traditionally, organizes general and arrangement of its “agricultural district”, in an effort to make the living and working environment first of all safe for work, and then clean and tidy. The competent divisions, therefore, organize numerous activities every June to improve the management of production safety and environmental order.
