MAJDANPEK. – More than half a year has passed since the residents of Majdanpek have to go to neighbouring Bor or another city if they have a toothache. There is no private dental office in this city, and the Dental Care Service at the “Dr Veroljub Cakić” health facility was forced to stop providing services to citizens in May, as the last of the four dental chairs, which according to the director of Majdanpek’s Health Centre, Dr Dragan Fudulović, is between 30 and 40 years old.

-They were regularly serviced and repaired while spare parts for those models could be found on the market. When the last chair broke, the Majdanpek Health Centre stopped providing services in the field of dental care – Dr Fudulović says.

He adds that the Majdanpek health institution turned to the Ministry of Health and other institutions for help in acquiring new dental chairs and a digital dental imaging device, and the request was also addressed to the largest company in Majdanpek.

– The Serbia Zijin Copper company reacted to the memo labelled “urgent” in exactly the same way, and allocated 2.3 million dinars in record time for the purchase of two dental chairs and an X-ray for dental imaging. Expensive medical equipment has arrived, so we will be able to provide dental services to the residents of the municipality of Majdanpek in the future – points out the director of the local health Centre.
