On the foundations of an influential school of journalism, “Kolektiv” is still at the service of readers.
An impressive 76 years of duration
In an era when the pursuit of “clicks” and “likes” has become an epidemic, and fake news is the rule, the vision of “Kolektiv” has remained the same – to be at the service of readers with dedication, truth, and consistency, on the basis of the foundations of an influential school of journalism. – From November 1, 1947, until today, 2,359 issues of “Kolektiv” were printed, with a circulation of over 22 million copies. More than 260,000 journalistic texts illustrated with around 26,000 photographs have been written.
With uncompromising consistency in the tradition of respecting the highest journalistic standards and the dedicated work of a constellation of journalists and editors, “Kolektiv” has remained faithful to its old and proven “software” for almost eight decades. With its head held high, untouched by the collapse of the media system, it proudly celebrates its 76th birthday and strides with dignity towards its centenary.
In an era when the pursuit of “clicks” and “likes” has become an epidemic, and fake news is the rule, the vision of “Kolektiv” has remained the same – to be at the service of readers with dedication, truth, and consistency, on the basis of the foundations of an influential school of journalism.
Journalists and editors of “Kolektiv” have always cultivated the highest professional values. They were and still remain faithful guardians of our wonderful and neglected Cyrillic script, protecting readers from tabloid journalism, superficiality, and new-language acrobatics that, unfortunately, flooded the media space in Serbia.
We have overcome challenges throughout the history of journalism, strived to preserve the values that generations of journalists and editors fought for, and we readily accept the same task in the time ahead.
From November 1, 1947, until today, 2,359 issues of “Kolektiv” were printed, with a circulation of over 22 million copies, and more than 260,000 journalistic articles illustrated with around 26,000 photographs were written.
With a circulation of 1,500 copies, “Kolektiv” is today aimed at every fourth worker in Serbia Zijin Copper. At the same time, it tries to, first of all, present the dimension of their participation in creating the present and future of the company, a better standard, better acquainting and a better understanding with the mixed Serbian-Chinese management.
The question of whether and to what extent “Kolektiv” is successful in its mission, which sometimes seems impossible, is supported by the numerous awards it has received over the years. Let’s mention that in 1977 the paper was awarded the Order of the Republic with a bronze wreath, and the editorial office also received the Grand Charter of the Association of Journalists of Serbia, the Golden Plaque of Majdanpek, the Bor October Award, the Charter of the Liberation of the City, the Charter and Plaque of the Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Serbia, the „Inženjer Šistek” (Engineer Šistek) award, „Kapetan Miša Anastasijević“ (Captain Miša Anastasijević) Charter, Jubilee Award of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce for 75 years of business.
“Kolektiv” is a newspaper that is read by everyone: managers, workers, ministers, farmers, taxi drivers, pensioners, young and old. That this is the case is evidenced by numerous congratulations that the editorial office received on the occasion of its impressive 76 years of existence. Among others, the following congratulated on its birthday: Minister of Economy Slobodan Cvetković, Association of Serbian Journalists (UNS), i.e. President of UNS Živojin Rakočević and Secretary General of UNS Nino Brajović, Mayor of Bor Aleksandar Milikić, President of the Assembly of Bor Dragan Žikić, Dean of the Technical Faculty in Bor Dejan Tanikić Ph.D., Chief of Bor District Vladimir Stanković, President of the Majdanpek Municipality Dragan Popović, President of the Majdanpek Municipal Assembly Nikola Naunović, Professor of the Technical Faculty Ljubiša Balanović and numerous colleagues.
