“We continue to build a modern, green and sustainable mining company”

It is also our obligation to provide citizens with a healthy environment by applying international standards and modern technologies in business and to develop mining for the benefit of the whole society – it is stated in the congratulations message addressed to the employees in the mining industry by the Head of Serbia Zijin Copper Company.

SZC. – The General Manager, Mr Guozhu Qiu, congratulated the employees the National Miners’ Day in Serbia, with the desire to use the same energy and enthusiasm, that recently protected the village of Krivelj and the “Veliki Krivelj” Mine from flooding, to develop mining for the sake of a better society and achieve results that will make Serbia Zijin Copper proud.

“On the occasion of this magnificent holiday, the Serbian National Miners’ Day, I send my sincerest congratulations to the employees of Serbia Zijin Copper, Serbia Zijin Mining, citizens of Bor and Majdanpek, as well as others who are employed in the mining industry.

I deeply respect the difficult and high-risk work of miners and appreciate their work and effort. I want to thank everyone and express my admiration for their dedication to take part in one of the most demanding occupations and for perseverance to increase production month after month. Thanks to the miners, metallurgists, mineral processing operators and other professions, the Company is progressing every day, and with it the entire Serbian economy. That’s why I’m proud of all the employees. I would like to express my special thanks to the miners of the “Veliki Krivelj” Open-Pit Mine and the emergency rescue team of the “Jama” Mine for their exceptional courage, sacrifice and mining solidarity that they showed in emergency situations and actions to save people and property from fire and floods.

The future of mining lies in investments, the opening of new mines and thus new workplaces, increased productivity, greater social security and better working conditions. The Chinese corporation has so far employed around 8,000 people in Serbia, i.e. in Bor and Majdanpek, and if we add to that the workers who are hired by local suppliers who provide services and provide various materials to the Serbia Zijin Copper and Serbia Zijin Mining companies, according to the estimates of the Zijin Group, we could potentially reach more than 10,000 workplaces provided by the Chinese companies in Serbia. Today, the economic activities of the Zijin’s two subsidiaries in Serbia contribute about 2.5% to the Serbian GDP.

Naturally, none of our accomplishments and achievements would be possible without the great support of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. I believe that in the future, with their help and the help of all parts of society, employees and citizens, we will succeed in achieving our plans, and in the end they should bring Serbia to the second place in Europe in terms of copper and gold production.

Our obligation is to provide citizens with a healthy environment by applying international standards and modern technologies in business, and to develop mining for the benefit of the entire society.

By investing in ecology and environmental protection, scientific and technological innovations, as well as in social responsibility, Serbia Zijin Copper continues to build a modern, green and sustainable mining company with the first-class economic and social advantages, so it is well on its way to returning to the former glory of its predecessor, RTB Bor, which used to be famous worldwide for a record production of copper.

I congratulate all the employees from the bottom of my heart on the National Miners’ Day of Serbia, with the desire to use the same energy and enthusiasm, that recently protected the village of Krivelj and the “Veliki Krivelj” Mine from flooding, to develop mining for the sake of a better society and achieve results that will make Serbia Zijin Copper proud.

I wish everyone good health and much success in their work, with the miners’ greeting – Good luck! “
