SZC. – The General Manager of Serbia ZiJin Copper, Mr. Jian Ximing signed (on September 09) the Contract on awarding scholarships to the best students in the final grades of grammar schools and secondary vocational schools together with representatives of 11 secondary schools in the Bor District. By doing so, the company continued the implementation of the Umbrella Contract on Zijin donation for the development of education concluded with the Bor City Administration at the end of May.
The plan for awarding “Zijin” scholarships, which the parent Chinese company has been implementing since this year as part of the financial aid project for education, provides that by 2029, 100 scholarships will be awarded to the excellent grade average students of grammar schools and secondary vocational schools in the Bor district. The plan in question envisages that 50 students from Bor, 20 from Majdanpek, 20 from Negotin, and 10 from Kladovo will receive a lump sum scholarship of 700 dollars. The entire project, as explained by the Deputy General Manager of Serbia Zijin Copper company, Mr. Jason Zhang, is worth 560,000 dollars and will last eight years.
„Education has strategic importance for the economic and social development of the country and nation, and that is precisely why Serbia Zijin Copper pays great attention to this segment of the educational process. In the future, we will also consider awarding “Zidjin” scholarships in higher education“ – said Mr. Zhang

The Company employs 6,160 workers, with an average monthly net salary of RSD 110,000, and with more than 1,000 Serbian suppliers and contractors providing services for the Company.
Thanks to extensive reclamation, as well as waste gas and wastewater treatment systems built under the highest standards, the environment in Bor and Majdanpek has significantly improved. The ecological situation in Bor will, as Deputy General Manager of Serbia Zijin Copper said, be further improved when the technical reconstruction of the Smelter Plant is completed. – „Zijin has a firm belief in investments in Serbia and that will not change. In addition, Zijin’s goal to build an ecological, high-tech, first-class enterprise here, will not change“ – Mr. Jason Zhang emphasized.
By investing in education, Serbia Zijin Copper, as the holder of the economic development not only of the Bor District but also of the Republic of Serbia, clearly shows that its human resources are in the first place. It is particularly important that this project includes all local self-governments and secondary schools in the territory of Bor District, so I would like to thank the management of the company for this decision on behalf of the Government of Serbia and the Bor District. I hope that the school principals and teachers will distribute the scholarships fairly. We will all work together to provide the scholarship holders with the best possible education, and with a chance to enrol in colleges in the future and be part of the community in Bor, Majdanpek, Negotin, and Kladovo– said the Head of the Bor District.
The Secondary Schools Coordinator in Bor and the Principal of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Mr. Milovan Božović, thanked the management of Serbia Zijin Copper on behalf of all 11 educational institutions signatories to the Contract on Student Scholarship. – „With this gesture, the company not only shows social responsibility but also wisdom, as there is no better pledge for the future than investing in education“ – said Mr. Božović.
