Serbia Zijin Copper is the best company in the region

This year, 20 prominent individuals, institutions and companies in the field of economy and social life received a bronze plaque award with a charter, jointly awarded by the Media Invent Agency from Novi Sad, the University of Novi Sad and the University of Belgrade, with the help of Serbian Chambers of Commerce and local governments. – Mr. Zou Gang: I am very happy that Serbia Zijin Copper received this award, because it is a recognition of our work so far. ZAJEČAR. – At the ceremony on the occasion of the promotion of the best participants in economic, social and public life in administrative regions of Bor and Zaječar, within the project “Road to the top” which has been realized for the 20th time this year, individuals and companies they can serve as an example to others through their business activities, behavior and responsibility, were given the regional awards “Captain Miša Anastasijević”  in Zaječar (March 16). This year, 20 prominent individuals, institutions and companies in the field of economy and social life received a bronze plaque award with a charter, jointly awarded by the Media Invent Agency from Novi Sad, the University of Novi Sad and the University of Belgrade, with the help of Serbian Chambers of Commerce and local governments.

At the suggestion of the Regional Chamber of Commerce Zaječar, the award “Captain Miša Anastasijević” and a bronze plaque award with a charter has been awarded this year to Serbia Zijin Copper as the best company in the region. The jury chaired by the former chancellor of the University of Novi Sad, Prof. Dr. Radovan Pejanović, PhD, made the unanimously decision, and the explanation, among other things, states the following: „In the technical renovation and expansion of the mines and smelter, as well as in numerous safety and environmental projects, Serbia Zijin Copper invested 1 billion and 112 million US dollars from 2019 to 2021, paid a total of 201 million dollars in various taxes and fees and made a cumulative contribution to the community of $370 million. Investment in environmental protection reached 152 million US dollars.

The award for the best company in the region was assigned to the Deputy General Manager of Serbia, Zijin Copper, Mr. Zou Gang. Thanking the hosts and organizers for the award, he said: –  Three years ago, Zijin Mining Group took over RTB Bor and decided to start a large investment cycle in order to apply the leading standards in the field of production and business operations, technological innovations, safety and environmental protection, social responsibility in the Majdanpek and Bor copper mines. The number of employees increased from 4,900, as many as worked in the former RTB in 2018, to over 6,000, therefore the employment rate of the local population is 97 percent. Hoping to further boost the economy and employment, Serbia Zijin Copper has entered into business cooperation with a number of local companies in the field of engineering design, construction, technical services, so that more than half of the population in Bor and Majdanpek directly or indirectly benefits from the company. Today, the company is also provided services by more than a thousand home suppliers and contractors, therefore it is estimated that it has provided employment for about 8,000 people at the local level.

Serbia Zijin Copper, Mr. Zou Gang added, pays great attention to the sustainable development of the environment in which it operates. Believing in building good relations based on dialogue and mutual trust, it seeks to identify its needs and problems in contact with the local community. In light of sustainable and constructive cooperation, the Company actively supported the development of local communities in the territories it operates, and set aside over $750,000 last year to improve health conditions, traffic infrastructure, culture, education, traditional art and entertainment for children. The company has also helped the development of various spheres of the social community in the last three years with over 2.3 million dollars.

It should also be said that in order to help Serbia in the fight against the pandemic, the company, together with Serbia Zijin Mining, donated to relevant republic institutions medical equipment and protective material, as well as a laboratory for testing viruses called “Fiery Eye” in Niš. An ambulance was donated to the hospital in Bor, and this year our plan is for the Majdanpek health institution to receive the same donation. Also, for three years in a row, the company provided the City Administration of Bor with 10,000 cubic meters of gravel for the construction of roads. Serbia Zijin Copper has implemented more than 80 projects in the field of social responsibility that “cover” the infrastructure, sports, culture, education, health, environment, poverty reduction and more Mr. Zou Gang said at the ceremony organized at the Zoran Radmilović Theater in Zaječar.

Deputy General Manager of Serbia Zijin Copper added that the company received recognition from the Bor City Administration for its outstanding contribution to economic development at the end of last year. – I am very happy that Serbia Zijin Copper also received this award, because it is a recognition of our work so far. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, because we want to create more jobs and give young people the opportunity to develop – concluded Gang.

The award that keeps the memory of the great Serbian entrepreneur Captain Miša Anastasijević was also given to Ljubinko Gobeljić, the director of FMP “Agromehanika” in Boljevac, declared a leader in sustainable development, Dejan Tošić, the director of the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Zaječar, Dr. Snežana Simić from Bor, “Fortuna” company from Bor (for a business vision in the field of electricity). Among this year’s winners are also the “Zoran Radmilović” Theater from Zaječar, Eliksir from Prahovo, “Falk Ist” from Knjaževac, the Mining and Metallurgy Institute from Bor, the Sokobanja Municipality, Tekijanka Company from Tekija, Dr. Nebojša Marjanović, journalists Brana Filipović and Jelena Bujdić Krečković, the Djerdap National Park and “Spajić” company from Negotin.
